Financing Your Academic Goals

An education at Great Basin College is one of the most potentially rewarding investments you may make in your lifetime, and it can be more affordable than you imagine.

GBC has many resources to assist you in funding your studies. The most desirable forms of financial aid for students are scholarships and federal grants, which do not need to be repaid. Another option is a federal student loan, which will need to be repaid with interest. Veterans may be entitled to additional benefits. To get started, click the menu items at left under Applying for Financial Aid.

If you receive financial aid at GBC, you will need to maintain Satisfactory Progress during the course of your studies. Be sure to familiarize yourself with these academic standards.

In addition, GBC's Career Center can assist you in finding a regular job in the community and provides an online list of jobs currently open for GBC students.

Jan. 27-May 31 Harris Personal Injury Lawyers Inc. Scholarship

Feb. 24-May 31 American Addiction Center Scholarship
$10,000 in scholarships being awarded. Must major in behavioral health, nursing, counseling, psychology, social work, marriage/family thearapy. See website link, for more information and to apply online Link ]

Feb. 24-Dec. 15 Flosum Scholarship
$750 Scholarship-- Must be pursuing or intending to pursue a bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science,or in another technical discipline such as electrical engineering, physics or mathematics with an interest in field of computer science. Mar. 6-Nov. 28 BBZ Limo's Scholarship Program
A $1000 Scholarship. This scholarship is open to students who are currently enrolled in a high school, college, university, or trade school. Mar. 20-July 31 StudyWeb's 2015 Scholarship Essay Competition
$500 Essay Competition Scholarship to a college student and must be 18 years old. Must write a thought-provoking original essay on: How will the Internet change mankind in the next 10 years? For more information and to apply, go to the website. Link ]

Mar. 20-20 Discover Student Loan Scholarship
$2500 Scholarship. Must be planning on attending a college or university and must be 16 years of age. There will be five drawings on 6/8/2015, 9/7/15, 12/7/15, and 3/7/16. For more information and to apply, go to their website. Link ]

Mar. 20-June 15 Abbot and Fenner Scholarship Program
$1000 Scholarship to a student who is currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution. Must write an essay that must be 500 to 1000 words.
