American Indian CollectionThe American Indian collection is housed on the main floor of the library. This growing collection consists mainly of books. The Great Basin Indian Archives is dedicated to providing students and researchers easy access to primary and digital information that chronicles the history and heritage of the Great Basin Indian peoples.Basque CollectionLocated on the main floor of the library, this collection is comprised of books in Basque, French, Spainsh and English on the subject of the Basque peoples. A much more extensive collection resides in the Basque Studies Library at UNR.Government DocumentsThe GBC Library became a Federal Depository for Government Documents in 1992. We receive about 19%
of distributed information. Publications are available from Congress as well as a variety of government
departments, such as Agriculture, Census, Defense, Education, Health & Human Services, Interior,
Justice and Labor. Government Documents are located on the second floor of the library. Foundation Grants CenterThe Great Basin College Library became a member of the Foundation Center Cooperating Collections Network in December 2002. The collection provides resources for grant seekers throughout Northeastern Nevada. The Foundation Center is headquartered in New York with field offices in Atlanta, Cleveland, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. Founded in 1956, the Center is the nation's leading authority on philanthropy and is dedicated to serving grant seekers, grant makers, researchers, policymakers, the media and the general public. Their resources include print directories, electronic databases, classes and courses. The Foundation Center's mission is to support and improve philanthropy by promoting public understanding of the field and helping grant seekers succeed.Reference Librarian Karen Dannehl supervises the collection and coordinates training and public awareness activities. Current holdings may be found in the Foundation Collection on the Main floor of the library. Access to the Foundation Directory Online is found on all computers on the main floor of the library. Training sessions are held several times a year and are announced through local media as well as through this page. Nevada CollectionLocated on the main floor of the Library, this collection brings together a wide variety of materials focused on the subject ot Nevada and Elko County.Partners Allied for Community Excellence - (PACE)The library formed a partnership with the PACE Coalition in June 2003. We are the local resource for substance abuse information and materials in Elko County. The local PACE office and its main office at UNR provide materials for our collection. New materials are continually added to the collections.The collection is located on the 2nd floor near the Government Document collection.
