Urgency settings of >2 will text my personal cell phone. I'll phone you ASAP, even on a non-work day. Be sure to provide a phone number above where I can reach you during the next hour, even if it's a lunch hour or after work.

Urgency setting of 0-2 will send me an email. I'll respond on my next work day (Thursday/Friday). Your setting will determine how I prioritize my tasks.

Susanna will be traveling intermittently and moving her household between May 25 and mid-June. She may be unavailable for periods between those two dates. So your patience will be appreciated! She will continue to work for the college following her move. She has completed her contracted hours for the 2011-12 academic year but will continue, as she's able, to complete essential updates.

If you have an urgent request and Susanna does not respond quickly, please contact Tim Beasley. Thank you!

Major Projects for 2011-2012

  • Combine, move, test, and adjust the more than 46,000 separate files that comprise our website to a new server in Reno. Completed
  • When Spring and Summer '11 are completely ended, change the website's overall navigation scheme. Dozens of links throughout the website must be changed. Completed
  • Work with the new bookstore manager on the textbook ordering process. Completed
  • Adapt class schedule, class change, and fte reporting programs to cope with multiple semesters by the time the Spring '12 schedule is due to be published. Completed
  • Work with the VPAA and director of IR&E on assessment issues in anticipation of accreditation review in 2013. Document Archiving Tool Completed
  • Adapt to changes in PeopleSoft (version updates).
  • Completely revamp Financial Aid application instructions Completed, with 5 videos
  • Investigate a complete website redesign to modernize construction techniques, more completely adapt to MyGBC, change the way catalog content is presented, improve organization for the benefit of students, specifically of rural students, etc. This project has begun and will take a significant effort to complete.
  • As time permits, work on a universal login scheme for all the web-based applications I've written (strategic planning, class changes, faculty evaluations, etc., etc.). Begin rewriting all programs to adapt to the new scheme and to make applications consistent from one to the other. Document program architecture and function as I go. (This is also necessitated by the architecture of the new server. It may take 2-3 years to finish this task.) Won't have time for these projects this term.

Contract Fulfilment

Detailed Webmaster Log

Excess hours this year
over contracted 936 (245)

Contracted Hours Worked this year (711)
Excess hours worked last year (225)

Contract Weeks (52)

Weeks Elapsed (36)
Explanation of Imbalance

Excess hours early in the year were due to moving all web content from two servers into one (46,000 files), which necessitated adjusting 2500+ files), and checking/testing the new server. Also, before the beginning of Fall 2011, it was necessary to remove references to WebREG and repoint everything to MyGBC -- major navigation scheme change.
