Women Self Defense - This is NOT a Karate or Martial Arts Class.

"The surest way to survive is to have a plan of action - to be prepared. Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. " — aa milne

This class is not a physical education or exercise class.

Self Defense involves much more than just physical fighting. This class covers all aspects of Women's Self Defense, which includes how what to expect before, during, and after an assault. It is an important class for any woman who would like to become more aware of personal defense strategies and tactics.

We have a lot of fun in a class that covers a very serious subject.

Title:Self Defense for Women
Catalog Description: Selection will depend on current interests and needs. Student Open Workout, Relaxation Techniques, and New Year's Resolution are some examples of selections in this category. Descriptions of individual Special Topics in Recreation will be found in the current class schedule. May be repeated three times. (Formerly PEX 199B, Special Topics in Recreation) [P/W]
My Comments:Personal Defense for women regardless of ability, skill or experience. This is not an "exercise" class.

Personal defense skills are taught with a hands-on approach. Class will introduce students to information about the different levels of defense including psychological, emotional and physical. Throughout the course students practice various skills involving awareness, verbal assertiveness, body language, threat recognition and physical confrontation, in order to prepare for situations in personal safety.
