Title:Business Speech/Communications
Catalog Description: Covers the basic elements of effective communications in a business setting, interviewing, interpersonal relationships, small group, and one-on-one situations. Also discusses presentation skills, small group meeting planning and conducting, and the development of listening and nonverbal skills.
ECON 311
Title:Professional Ethics
Catalog Description: A study of the nature of ethical thinking and its application to judgments about actions of people that make up society. Topics to be considered include ethical relativism, moral virtues and vices, foundations of morality, alternative theoretical perspectives on moral judgment, egoism, altruism, and legal and regulatory perspectives related to ethics in business. Also available as PHIL 311.
FIN 101
Title:Personal Finance
Catalog Description: Discussion and analysis of problems relating to financial independence. Budgeting, personal tax concerns, cash and savings investments, real estate, financial institutions and borrowing, insurance, investing, retirement programs, and estate planning are covered for real world applications.
MGT 310
Title:Foundations of Management Theory and Practice
Catalog Description: Develops the students' theoretical foundation for further study in any field involving management. Explores historical thought and the management functions of planning, organizing, directing, and controlling. Provides a practical analysis of leadership, communications, and motivation techniques. Concludes with an exploration of current management challenges and trends.
MGT 487
Title:Entrepreneurship
Catalog Description: A comprehensive study of the process of judiciously combining the various factors of production in meeting the needs of consumers in creative and profitable ways. Topics include characteristics of successful managers, starting a new enterprise, forming an entrepreneurial team, venture capital sources, and formulation of a business plan.
