Great Basin College: Certificate of Achievement in Medical Transcription
Certificate of Achievement in Medical Transcription
About the Program
Medical Transcriptionist is the fastest growing occupation in Nevada. Medical Transcriptionists (MTs) can work from home or work in hospitals, clinics, and physicians' offices. In the past few years a large percentage of MTs work from home for contractors or as entrepreneurs with their own home-based businesses. A nationally certified transcriptionist can live in an isolated rural area and transcribe for a physician living anywhere in the country!
GBC partners with Career Step of Springville, Utah, to deliver all MTRN courses online. Career Step's curriculum is accredited through the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (formerly the American Association of Medical Transcriptionists). Medical Transcription courses are required to be taken in a continuous sequence and completed within a one-year period. Upon successful completion of the Great Basin College Certificate of Achievement, students will be prepared to take the certification exam to become a Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT).
