Nevada Sex Offender Registry

Under the provisions of NRS 179B.250, the public is authorized to gain access to certain sex offender information. This information has previously only been available through a phone query to the Sex Offender Registry unit in the State Criminal History Repository. Now a faster, easier resource is being provided to the citizens of Nevada. This expanded public access is in response to the public outcry following the death of Megan Kanka.

In 1994, 7-year-old Megan Kanka was raped and murdered in a New Jersey suburb. Her attacker was a convicted sex offender and was a nearby neighbor; however, the police department was prohibited from disclosing the presence of this child molester because at the time the law did not allow the release of sex offender information to the public. Following the media attention and public outcry from that tragedy, there was a ground swell of state legislation. This prompted New Jersey Congressman Dick Zimmer to draft the bill that became Megan's Law. This law was implemented to allow potential victims to protect themselves and allow parents to protect their children. By 1996, all states had variations of Megan's Law.

The State Criminal History Repository is required by state statute to maintain a Website containing information on serious and high-risk sex offenders. Information on the Website will include the name, known aliases, year(s) of birth used by the offender, photograph when available, Tier Level, physical description, complete residential address, block number of employment address, block number of school address, conviction information which will include when available; date of conviction, description of conviction, court of conviction, name convicted under, location of penal institution for sexual offense, city-county-township of conviction, hospital commitment for sexual offense, and statute. The Website does not contain information on all convicted sex offenders. Information is only provided for sex offenders with a risk assessment score of a  TIER Level 3 and TIER Level 2 community notification.

The Sex Offender Registry Unit will update this information regularly; however, the information contained on this site may not reflect the current residential address, block number of the employer, or block number of the school address regarding the offender. While care has been taken in the compilation of this information and every attempt has been made to present up-to-date and accurate information, the State Criminal History Repository cannot guarantee that inaccuracies will not occur. It should be noted that sex offender registration information contained on these pages is constantly updated due to new registrants and the relocation of existing registrants. The State Criminal History Repository will not be held responsible for any loss, damage, or inconvenience caused as a result of any inaccuracy or error within these pages. If you believe that any of the information found in these records are inaccurate, please contact your local law enforcement agency.
