Meet Lynette Macfarlan

Meet Lynette Macfarlan graphic.2022- “My passion is teaching students to become intentional in their approach to educating young children. This occurs by being authentically engaged and fully present as an instructor and mentor.”

Lynette Macfarlan was hired in 2000 as the Director of the Great Basin College Child & Family Center and later transitioned into full-time instruction and supervision of the GBC Early Childhood Program. As the ECE Program Supervisor and Lead Professor, Lynette oversees three associate degrees and two certificate programs. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Humanities with an emphasis in Education at Sierra Nevada College and holds a Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University.

With over thirty years of experience in the field of early childhood education, Lynette understands the need to accommodate students both online and on-campus. To meet the needs of rural and working students, Lynette made the decision to blend recorded live lectures into online courses. This enabled online students to receive the same level of instruction as live students. Based on this decision, enrollment tripled within two years, thus all ECE courses and programs are presently offered online. The GBC Early Childhood AAS program is rated 7th in the nation for affordability and quality by affordablecolleges.com.
