Great Basin College wants to be your choice for higher education. GBC offers associate and baccalaureate level instruction in career and technical education and academic areas. About 4,000 students are enrolled annually online from across the country and on campuses and centers across 86,500 square miles, two time zones, and ten of Nevada's largest counties. We border Arizona, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and California. We are GBC!

All faculty, staff, students and members of Great Basin College community have an obligation to protect and provide oversight for those funds or property within their departments. This includes reporting of any mishandling, misappropriation, witnessed or perceived theft or negligence in a timely manner. The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) and Great Basin College as a member institution have instituted the following policies regarding criminal and negligent handling of funds and property.
6.2.1 Prohibited Activity - Faculty Only. The following conduct, being incompatible with the purposes of an academic community, is prohibited for all members of the faculty of the System, shall constitute cause for discipline and may lead to the procedures and disciplinary sanctions established in Section 6.3 of the Nevada System of Higher Education Code:
(e) Falsification of employment applications or documents submitted to the System, its member institutions or its special units, or making other false or fraudulent representations in securing employment.
(f) Dishonesty.
(0) Willful damage, destruction, defacement, theft or misappropriation of equipment or property belonging to, in the possession of or on premises occupied by, the System;
(r) Forgery, alteration, falsification or destruction of System documents or furnishing false information in documents submitted to the Nevada System of Higher Education;
(z) Willfully destroying, damaging, tampering, altering, stealing, misappropriating, or using without permission any system, program or file of the Nevada System of Higher Education;
(bb) Any other conduct which violates applicable stated prohibitions, policies, procedures, rules, regulations or bylaws of the Board of Regents or a System institution;
(cc) Any act prohibited by local, state or federal law which occurs on System premises or at a System sponsored function on or off such premises;
The NSHE Prohibitions and Penalties specifically addresses disciplinary sanctions for classified staff in:
Section A - Fraud, Falsification or Dishonesty
3. Willful and/or negligent falsification of records or reports.
6. Embezzlement or misappropriation of NSHE funds or other funds which come into the employee’s possession by reason of his/her official position.
7. Stealing or misappropriation of property belonging to NSHE, federal or state government, vendors or fellow employees.

3. Waste or loss of material, property, equipment or resources.
Section 10.2 Cause
10.2.1 Prohibited Conduct. The following conduct is prohibited:
(a) Acts of dishonesty, including by not limited to the following:
(3) Forgery, alteration, misuse, theft or using without permission, any institutional document or record.
(k) Willful damage, destruction, defacement, theft or misappropriation of equipment or property belonging to, in the possession of, or on premises occupied by the System.
(p) Abuse, unauthorized use, or theft of institutional or System computer facilities and resources,
(q) Willfully destroying, damaging, tampering, altering, stealing, misappropriating or using without permission any System, program or file of the System.
(dd) Any other conduct that violates applicable stated prohibitions, policies, procedures, rules, or regulations of the institution or Board of Regents.
(ee) Any act prohibited by local, state or federal law that occurs on System premises or at a System-sponsored function on or off such premises.
Faculty, staff, students and members of the Great Basin College community should report all instances where they have knowledge, information or believe an act of misappropriation or theft has occurred. Reports may be made to the following persons:
